Sewing and jewellery making workshops 

for children age 8 - 16 years 

Next school holiday workshops will be in the Easter Holidays, dates and times to be announced closer to the time.

You can book two sessions if you want to make more than one item, or if you want to make something that is more time consuming, like a decorated cusion that will take two sessions.

Two sessions can be on seperate days, or on the same day, if you live nearby you can go home for lunch and continue your project after lunch.

Cushion making will cost £47 per person for two sessions.

For anything else you want to make, just pay the price for two sessions.

Make Gifts

Morning 10am - 1pm

5 places available. No experience needed. All materials included in the price.

Choose from: simple cosmetic bag, pencil case, simple jewellery roll, I pod case, book mark, glasses (spectacle) case, eye mask, drawstring storage bag, christmas stocking, tea cosy. I have lots of craft magazines for inspiration!

£22 per person.

Jewellery Making

Afternoon 2pm - 5pm

Design and make beautiful jewellery. Choose from: necklace, bracelet, hair accessory, mobile phone/bag dangly. If you have time you can make two pieces eg. necklace & matching bracelet.

6 places available. No experience needed. All materials included in the price.

£23 per person.

Make Gifts

Sewing Workshop

Afternoon 2pm - 5pm

5 places available. No experience needed. All materials included in the price.

You can carry on with what you have been making in the weekly sewing lessons or make something from the gift list or if you have your own idea of what you would like to make.

  These workshops are also open to children that don't usualy attend the weekly sewing lessons, so if you have a friend that would like to come they will be very welcome.

Don't forget to bring a drink and a snack on the day in case you get peckish!

If there is a workshop you would like to come to, but can't attend on that particular date, or if the workshop is full, please enquire as I may be able to do it on a different day, I would need at least three children, so you might want to come with two friends.

Alternatively you can make the things you wanted to, but on a different workshop, for example if you wanted to make a tiara you could make that in the jewellery making workshop.

Bag Making Workshop

 

Morning 10am - 1pm

Two consecutive mornings. 3hrs each day, so a total of 6hrs

5 places available: No experience needed. All materials included in the price. 

£42 per person.

Alternative option: If you can only attend one session of the bag making workshop, you can make an unlined drawstring bag. The price for one session will be £22.50

Make a Skirt

 

Afternoon 2 - 5pm

Two consecutive afternoons. 3hrs each day, so a total of 6hrs

5 places available. Previous experience of using a sewing machine required. If you have made a bag or cushion before, then you can make the skirt.

All materials and patterns included in the price.

T Shirt Customising Workshop

Tiara Making or Hair Accessory Workshop

 

Afternoon 2pm - 5pm

Design and make a beautiful tiara using a metal base, wire and beads. Or decorate a headband or combs with wire work beads, silk flowers etc. Alternatively you can decorate hair grips.

6 places available. No experience required.

All wire, beads, flowers etc. included in the price. Also included  is a Tiara box to take home your masterpiece. If you choose not to make a Tiara and make smaller items instead, these can be taken home in an organza drawstring bag.

Make a Drawstring Top/Short Dress

 

Morning 10am - 1pm

Two consecutive mornings. 3hrs each day, so a total of 6hrs.

Option to make a short drawstring top instead of long top/dress.

4 places available. Previous experience of using a sewing machine required. If you have made a bag or cushion before then you can make the drawstring top/dress.

Make a Fabric Bag Dangly

Morning 10am - 1pm

Make a fabric bag dangly. Choose from a Russian doll, birds hearts, etc. You can sew by hand or use the sewing machine, although as they are small it will be more difficult on the machine.

6 places available. No experience needed.

All materials are included in the price.

Make an Applique Fabric Headband

 

Afternoon 2pm - 5pm

There is also an option to make hair scrunchies, fabric roses and bows.

Bag Making Workshop

Design and make a fully lined bag. Choose from two different sizes. You choose the length and width you would like the handle to be. Learn how to pin the pattern correctly onto fabric you have chosen from my selection. Cut out bag sections.  Decorate bag with beads or appliques which you will hand sew on, before pinning and sewing bag together. If there is time you can make a fabric flower rose or bow to sew onto the bag. A great introduction to design, pattern placement, pinning, cutting, machine and hand sewing. Age 8 - 16yrs

T Shirt Customising

Let your imagination run wild! Using a new T shirt which will be provided. You can do things such as cutting into the t shirt, gather up sides. Add trimmings, such as ribbons and braids which you can sew on using the sewing machine. Hand sew motifs and beads to the T shirt to make your own unique design. Get ideas from your favourite magazines, music idols, celebrities. Plan what you think you may want to do before you come to the studio, draw a little sketch of your design as a guide so you don't forget any ideas you had. This is a sewing project for budding fashionistas! Age 8 -16yrs

Make a Skirt

Make a simple skirt (no zips). For younger girls they may want to make an elasticated waisted skirt . For older girls there is a skirt pattern with a deep yoke waistband which has elastic inserted at the top. The skirt then flares out from the yoke. Learn how to: pin the pattern correctly onto fabric you have chosen from my selection. Cut out skirt sections. Pin and sew skirt sections together. Neaten seams. Attach elastic to a casing. Sew up a hem. A great introduction to feeling confident about making your own clothes. Previous experience of using a sewing machine required. Most suitable for ages 10 - 16 years, or if younger must have neat sewing machine skills. Be the envy of your friends when you tell them you made your skirt yourself!

Tiara Making Workshop

Design and make a princess tiara using wire, flowers and brightly coloured beads. There is also a selection of pre-wired beads to help you along. The tiara bands are made from metal. If you don't want to make a tiara, you can decorate a satin ribbon headband or combs with wire work and beads. If there is time you can make decorated hair grips. I have a very large selection of tiaras to give you ideas to work from. You can try them on to get an idea what shapes will suit you. A fun workshop!

Make a Drawstring Top/Short dress

Get ready for summer! A lovely, easy, fashionable design. Make the dress as a hip skimming length or longer to make it as a short dress. There is also an option to make it to waist length (nice and cool for summer and a bit quicker to make - cheaper too!). Drawstring effect over the shoulders. Learn how to: pin the pattern correctly onto fabric you have chosen from my selection. Cut out top sections. Pin and sew sections together. Neaten seams. Make and turn through ties that go through casing. Make a casing. Sew up a hem. Previous experience of using a sewing machine required. Most suitable for ages 10 - 16 years, or if younger must have neat sewing machine skills.

Jewellery Making Workshop

Have lots of fun designing your own funky jewellery from a big selection of colourful beads. No experience required.

Cushion Making Workshop

New designs/shapes for this workshop include: Sausage dog shape, Ring doughnut shape, Cup cake. These will be good for children that have made cushions before as these are a bit more advanced than the shapes shown below.

Design and make a full size cushion for your bedroom. Or make as a present for mummy, daddy, grandma, aunty etc. Choose a shape for your cushion ~ square, heart, round, flower or star. Select your fabric. Plan the design for one side of your cushion. Then start cutting, pinning and sewing your masterpiece! You can decorate it with ribbon, beads, lace, felt applique etc. Look at the gallery page for ideas. We did this workshop at christmas and the girls realy enjoyed it. No experience required. You will learn design, pattern placement. Pinning and cutting out. Hand sewing skills. How to sew on a sewing machine. Square cushions: how to turn corners. Heart, round flower and star cushions: how to sew round curves, and how to clip into corners and round curved edges. This will be a masterpiece to treasure!

Sock Making Workshop

Make your own lovable sock monkey. No two monkeys are ever the same, so yours will be unique to you! These monkeys are handsewn. Experience of hand sewing will be an advantage.

Make an Applique Fabric Headband

This is a wide fabric headband with elastic at the back. It can be appliqued with a flower design or design of your choice. If you would prefer you can make a hair scrunchie instead. You can also make fabric roses or bows. These are fun to make and can be used to decorate lots of things, so once you know how to make them you can continue to make more when you go home. No experience required.
