Projects will be based on each individuals sewing ability. So if you've never picked up a sewing needle before or you already know the basics of using a sewing machine, there is a project to suit everyone.

Your sewing skills will develop over time and at your own pace.

Start with simple things first and then progress to bigger projects.

The more lessons you have, the better you will get at sewing and the more things you get to make!

These are the skills you will learn in the courses

Learn hand sewing skills, if you already know how you can skip straight to machine projects.

Learn pattern placement and the meanings of the markings on a dressmaking pattern.

Learn how to cut out fabric from simple paper patterns.

Learn about how a sewing machine works and what the different dials do.

Learn about sewing machine safety and other aspects of safety in a sewing environment.

Learn what the different attachments (feet) on a sewing machine are used for.

Learn how to thread a sewing machine and how to wind thread onto a bobbin.

Learn how to stitch using a sewing machine, straight lines, curved lines, turning corners, sewing backwards and gathering stitches.

Make casings for elastic waistbands. Make darts and pleats.

Use the seam ripper (unpicker).

Practice gathering & sewing pieces together. Attach hooks & press studs.

Learn how to make buttonholes, insert zips.

How to apply interfacing. Experiment with different types of fabric.

Get real creative by embellishing your projects with ribbon, lace, braid, buttons, beads and fancy hand stitching.

Each Sewing Course lasts 6 or 7 weeks depending on term dates. 1 lesson per week.

Each lesson lasts for 1hr 15 minutes.
